Trezor Suite Download Setup — Friendly Beginner’s Guide

Install, secure, and use Trezor Suite to manage altcoins, connect to dApps/DeFi, and protect your recovery seed.

Quick start checklist

Before downloading: have your Trezor device, a secure computer, and a pen + backup card or metal backup ready.

  • Device & cable (Trezor Model One / Model T / Safe series)
  • Use a trusted computer — avoid public devices
  • Physical backup medium (paper card + metal backup recommended)
  • Download only from the official Trezor site (links below)
Security tip: Do not photograph or upload your recovery phrase to cloud services. Only write it physically and store offline.

1) Download Trezor Suite

Visit the official Trezor Suite page and choose the desktop installer or continue in the browser. Desktop offers the fullest experience; the web app works with modern Chromium-based browsers using WebUSB/WebHID.

2) Install & launch

Run the installer (desktop) or open the web app, then connect your Trezor device via USB. The Suite app will walk you through creating a new wallet or recovering an existing one.

3) Create a new wallet — step-by-step

  1. Connect the device to your computer and open Trezor Suite.
  2. Select Create new wallet (unless you are restoring an existing wallet).
  3. Follow on-screen instructions and confirm everything on your physical Trezor device screen.
  4. Choose and set a PIN on the device; consider an optional passphrase only if you understand the risks/benefits.

4) Record & protect your recovery phrase

Write down the 12/24 words the device shows on its screen. Use a metal backup for long-term safety. Never store the recovery phrase in digital form.

5) Manage altcoins & accounts

Add accounts inside Trezor Suite for each coin or token you want to manage. For some tokens or specific chains, use Trezor-compatible third-party wallets (e.g., MyEtherWallet, Rabby, MetaMask) while keeping keys on your device.

6) Connect to dApps & DeFi

Trezor Suite supports WalletConnect — this lets you connect to many dApps and DeFi platforms while signing every transaction on your hardware device.

Workflow: initiate connect on the dApp → choose WalletConnect → confirm the session in Suite → sign transactions on-device.

7) Recover/import a wallet

To recover: in Trezor Suite choose Recover wallet and follow your device’s prompts to enter the recovery phrase directly on the device. Do not paste your seed into any website.

8) Best practices

  • Always download Suite from trezor.io.
  • Keep firmware up-to-date using official prompts in Suite.
  • Use physical/metal backups for your seed.
  • Review every transaction on your Trezor screen before approving.
